Athletes are encouraged to mentor younger players, support peers, and contribute to community initiatives. Kuya’s quiet yet steady faith fuels this vision: to see every athlete recognize their God-given potential and walk in it with purpose.

MOTIVATING HIS ATHLETES

Kuya motivates through encouragement, personal investment, and celebrating small victories. He teaches that mistakes are opportunities...make mistakes early, quickly and often so that they can discover the answers themselves. Progress is more important than perfection and that every player is valued beyond performance

INCLUSION & SOCIAL JUSTICE

Yes, Kuya serves Toronto’s diverse neighbourhoods, focusing on Needs Improvement Areas (NIAs). Through Greater Than The Game, youth are trained not only in basketball excellence but also in self/others/team leadership, discipleship, and community service. He empowers them to take ownership of their spaces and foster positive change, guided by the principle and mantra of Breaking Barriers and Building Bridges.

Kuya multiplies his impact by equipping not only the next generation of leaders but the now generation of leaders, players who are stepping into mentorship and community service today. His athletes are trained to lead with excellence and compassion, taking lessons learned on the court into their schools, neighbourhoods, and families. Through his principle/mantra, he empowers youth to overcome obstacles, create belonging, and foster positive change. Kuya lives out what it means to be “greater than the game.”
